Introduction

Correspondence or Correy groups provide wonderful avenues for any fleet member. Whether you are out in the boonies, schedule too hectic, or enjoy hanging out on the net, correy groups can provide an outlet for your energy and spark your imagination.

They are as much fun to run a as be apart of. There is nothing like working together with folks from all over the world to enjoy the fandom. A Correy are not that different from a meeting chapter. We both want to offer activities that are fun and engage the members. We have to stay in touch and communicate what the membership is up to. We just rely more on other forms of contact then the in person method. Each Correy is different, adding their uniqueness to the Fleet. It is up to the preference and the needs of the group, whether they want to be all on line or use printed newsletter. The focus of one is as diverse as Trek. Hunt our website and you will see. You will find they are finding fun in different Trek eras, focusing on one field of interest, lending a hand in the community, and exploring the fandom.

The guidelines will give you an idea what makes a correy different. For a pdf listing or have more correy questions, e-mail my office. Correy Ops is here to begin your journey into doing it differently. I think you will discover, you are only limited by what you can dream up when you are correy member.

We thank you for your interest.

CORRESPONDENCE CHAPTERS GUIDELINES

Correspondence Chapters differ from the majority of chapters in STARFLEET in that they chose to interact between members via means other than meeting face to face. The crew complement usually consists of members who are geographically far away from each other. Because of the characteristics of Correspondence Chapters, there are several additional regulations that pertain specifically to them.

1. Correspondence Chapter are prohibited from having regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings of its members. Command Staff meetings (that are not open to the public), conventions and other special events are exempt. The biggest question Correspondence Operations receives is what kind of get togethers can we do. This is very fluid. The guideline is, if you plan to conduct monthly activities that are face to face with the majority of your crew, that is a meeting. Most correy chapters attend Regional, Fleet and other special events. Some even host happenings. Now an occasional party or outing is ok, but the majority of the chapter’s interaction, is not done on a regular face to face basis.

2. The official address of a Correspondence Chapter will be that of its Chapter Chair (Commanding Officer) or a mailing address (Post Office Box) in the Region the Commanding Officer physically resides in. Should the Commanding Officer move to another Region, the chapter will also move to that new Region.
